Walking across the country, can I carry a gun in my backpack?

I am planning a 1500 mile walk across the US. I;m considering options for self defense and I was wondering if it would be illegal to carry a gun in my backpack in or out of a case. Would it make a difference if it were unloaded/disassembled?|||I;m guessing it;s legal as long as you don;t show it without having to fight. That i;m aware of, you can only take a pistol that;s not automatic. Once visible though, you have to be sure, are you using it for self defense or easy way to finish a fight that was never started ;)|||You need to check as the rules vary from one state to another. Most likely you will need a CCW as it will be a concealed weapon. If you do decide to carry it then in your backpack will be useless. If you need it in an emergency situation you need to be able to get at it quickly so get a proper holster and practice drawing it till you can do it in the dark. Also make sure it;s not to small in calibre. I could not recommend anything smaller than a 9mm you will not stop an angry bear with a .22LR. Be prepared to spend some range time with it before you depart and lear that it;s bullet placement that counts not bullet size or how many of them.Ian M

I am going away in september with my family ( 2 adults and 2 kids 21 and 18) and was wondering where the best destination would be to go? I have been to Bodrum with friends for the nightlife which was really good but not really a family holiday.Probably going to be staying in an all inclusive so won;t go out much although would like to go out for a couple of days and probably some good bars/restaurants! Japan visa rules help!!?

I just got back from a 1 month exchange in Japan, now I want to go back in September to stay for 6 months, but I do not have time for the whole 2 month visa/certificate of eligibility process. Japan rules say that you can stay up to 90 days without a visa. Is it possible to go for 90 days, come back for a week, and then go back for another 90 days without getting a visa/certificate of eligibility?? By the way I am 16 years old if that helps any. Where you;re all dramatic and emotional and demanding, and you upset yourself and others though you know you can be kinder than this. Then you do weird things like telling yourself not to eat anything til tomorrow because you;ve just done something wrong, made someone unhappy and you don;t eat anything cause you;re "depressed". Then like half an hour later you go back to your senses and wonder what was up with yourself and eat as much as you like?|||Hmm yeah, happens to me too! It;s as if you get these sudden mood swings... Hi everybody, i am struggling with an important question for some time now, i hope some of you can help me out and give me some advice or good info. I have a question about Marriots new Time Share Points program. This is what I am thinking:1. Marriott is no longer selling deeded property, they are selling a "program" or "partial ownership" of a trust. Therefore, everyone that buys, now owns a portion of the Trust and the weeks/units that are in the trust. pending this is correct, then I think the following is correct: A. Now Marriott can oversell their inventory, since they are not selling deeded property;s, who;s to say if they have 400,000 unit/weeks, that they dont sell 500,000 - well enough points to consume 500,000 unit/weeks. Who keeps them in check? B. Now if you switch over, lets say you own at Vail in peak season. You get your points, but all of a sudden, Marriott determines that your week is more valuable than the points you received, now you may not be able to go back to Vail during peak season....or you are now competing against all of Marriott;s owners for your week and not just the ones at your resort. C. Finally, why have the owners not filed a class action lawsuit against Marriott. Marriott has has sold their time shares for decades claiming that they are an investment and since it is a deeded piece of property that can be handed down from generation to generation, now they are saying they are worthless and the only program to be in the trust program. Also, if the program is that good, why not just switch everyone over to the new program and move on - I know why, that would mean everyone signing over their deeds to Marriott which requires everyone to agree to it - so instead of doing that, they create this program where you pay to give them your property. Also, this will increase their bottom line, not just because you pay them more, but because their asset;s will increase because they are gaining your deed property. D. Finally, HOA;s or the owner;s associations of these units keep Marriott in check. Now the stock holders will be keeping Marriott in check - and if they want more money, guess who it will be coming out of - TRUST owners. I can just see it now, "there is inflation you need to buy more points to keep going where you go". All in all- I AINT BUYING IT. Currently, I have a checking account with a local state credit union, and use a Visa check card. As I understand it, I can use this card at ATM;s in Japan; but of course, there will be a withdrawal fee and conversion fee. And since there is a limit to how much I can withdraw at once, those fees would add up.I also heard it would be impossible (or very difficult) to transfer money from a US bank account to one in Japan. Besides, transfers would cost a lot of money too, right?I wonder what would be the best way to get all of my money from my current bank account to the one in Hiroshima?Traveler;s check? I will be volunteering in India in Feb and doing travelling. Some other prospective volunteers contacted me and said they are looking for a backpacking partner. They have 3 people right now (whom met in the same manner). There are 2 girls, one guy, all in the same age range. I added them as friends on fb, and after doing a check they all seem nice, intelligent people. I feel like an *** lol...but the thought that went through my head was "are they hot." And they are not. I;m thinking about Toronto though, but Alberta as a total has really nice scenery.|||AlbertaReally cold winters with really hot summers and lots and lots of sunshine. Southern Alberta has more extremes than Northern Alberta, but the whole Province usually has pretty extreme weather. It depends whether you;re living in the Norht, the South near the Rockies... or the Rockies themselves. Alberta does have pretty decent scenery, but I would suggest if you were to move, move close to the mountains so you can enjoy it more. Places near Calgary like Bragg Creek are pretty decent like that... there;s other places too though. But yeah, near the mountains I;d say.. unless you love prairies (in the south) or flat boreal forests (North).VancouverPeople in Vancouver have nothing to complain about... but they still do! I;m from Alberta, it drives me crazy how peopel there think their weather is somethign to complain about. They don;t get a winter! Snow is very rare. Bring a rain coat (I would take rain over -40 C any day) it gets real gloomy there in the winter... but the weather in VAncouver is so mild and predictable that it;s no problem. It doesn;t get as hot as Alberta in the summer, but it;s much warmer in the winter. If you;re looking for mild winters in Canada... this is the place to be. Watch out though.. the locals actually have the nerve to complain!TorontoHumid, relatively warm summers but relatively cold summers. i was traveling in india and made a friend from denmark who told me about a dessert called koldskaal. i wanted to try making it but i do not have a recipe. so i do not know how much of each ingredient. he used eggs, sugar, vanilla powder and bisquits as well as kernel milk which he says is made from seeds. i havnt been able to find anything online about kernel milk it seems as though most people use buttermilk? if you have a good recipe id really like to try it.|||You use1 litre buttermilk as a base, put lots of sugar 4 table spoons or to taste2 tsp vanilla sugar, lemon 1 tsp or again to taste cream about 1dl ,mix sugar and vanilla in bowl, with 2dl of the buttermilk, until creamy then add the rest tasting all the time until you have the taste you like. and "voila", you have koldskaal ...Keep it in the fridgethere is no exact recipe because peoples tastes are different but this is a guide. Well a couple of years ago I had some major life issues (parents breaking up, family problems, etc.) that side tracked me from graduating high school. I still haven't gotten around to getting my GED but plan to by late August when my mother and I get our own car. I had to move to South Dakota because of the family problems. I've been here a year now and I just can't seem to get anywhere. I feel like my life is going to waste. I have no friends here and I don't have much in common with my mom's family so it does get lonely quite a bit. Basically I'm unhappy and want to go back home to California. I'm just a little worried whether or not I could find work up there right away with just a GED. I have to be too dependent on my mother for everything which I absolutely hate. I can't help her as much as I would like to because there are zero jobs and no opportunities. How much do you think it would cost to make it in California?
