Dancerina vs. Dancerella : Telling them apart.

The lovely Dancerina twirls, dances into the heart of the child in each of us grown up ladies!
Mattel's Dancerina was the first of the battery-operated ballet dolls. 1968 popular at 24 inches it inspired Dancerella (18")and another tinier ballerina from Mattel in later years. Don't get these dolls confused.Original Dancerina's legs bent for positioning, used 2 D batteries, had a 45 rpm record, instructions and a much-desired now box with insert. Dancerella's right leg kicks back and forth, plus doesn't bend.
Both Dancerina and Dancerella, twirl on her toes when you push down on the crown's knob.
Dancerina wore a pink satin leotard with pink tights and pink plastic ballet slippers. Zipper up back of leo. Tutu attached to clothes. Look for dolls withoutcracks to legs, discoloration. All hair plugs intact. Original hairstyle and clothes. Prized dolls gee with box. Another bonus: find one with instructions and a working record. Make sure to ask seller if the doll works. Non-working dolls are not worth much, unless you want to use them for parts. Seller should try doll with new batteries before posting auction.
